The EIAgen Epstein Barr EA IgG Kit is an immunoenzymatic method for the qualitative determination of IgG-class antibodies to Epstein Barr virus early antigen in human serum.
The Epstein Barr Early Antigens (EBV-EA) are viral proteins which are produced in the early stages of lythic infection. In the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis (IM), indirect immunofluorescence has been adopted for a long time for the determination of serum antibodies against EBV-EA, in association with the detection of IgG and IgM against the capsid antigens (VCA), and IgG against a nuclear antigen (EBNA-1). Recently it has been shown that the immunoenzymatic determination of serum IgG and IgM against the two early proteins, p138 and p54, shows good correlation with the indirect immunofluorescence method and can be utilised, not only as a complementary method in the determination of anti-VCA antibodies, but also as a substitute for these methods in the diagnosis of IM.
The ADALTIS Kit for the immunoenzymatic determination of IgG and IgM anti-EBV-EA uses recombinant polypeptides produced in E. coli containing epitopes of the proteins p138 and p54.
The test is based on the ELISA technique (Enzyme linked Immunosorbent Assay).
The recombinant antigens are bound to the solid phase. Following incubation with dilute human serum, the specific immunoglobulins are bound to the antigen.
After washings to eliminate the proteins which have not reacted, incubation with the conjugate, composed of human IgG monoclonal antibodies labelled with peroxidase, is performed.
The unbound conjugate is eliminated and the peroxidase substrate is added.
The colour which develops is proportional to the concentration of specific antibodies present in the serum sample.
The kit contains reagents for 96 tests (code 081069).
Bring reagents to room temperature before use.
