The Pchem α-2 Macroglobulin Reagent Kit has been designed for the quantitative in vitro determination of a2-Macroglobulin (AMG) in human serum by turbidimetric immunoassay.

This kit is intended for In vitro diagnostic use only, must not be sold to the general public and the test has to be carried out by a health-care professional person.

The kit contains reagents sufficient for 197 tests.

AMG has different biological functions: proteinase (endopeptidases) inhibition, transportation of enzymes and hormones and some immunological functions as inhibition of lymphoblastic transformation in pregnancy which has its significance in fetomaternal relationships.

Increased levels are reported in nephrotic syndrome, pregnancy, liver diseases, diabetes mellitus, inflammatory diseases, bronchopneumonia, congenital cardiac disease.

Decreased levels are reported in fibrinolysis, acute pancreatitis, biliary or renal stones, liver tumors, gastroduodenal ulcers, myocardial infarction.

Measurement of antigen-antibody reaction by the end-point method.
